United States of Pop 2008

At lot of critics and artists are satisfied at the end of the year with just making “Best of” lists, giving their top ten music tracks, their top ten movies and books. DJ Earworm once again (as he did at the end of 2007) takes it one step further by mashing up the top 25 songs of 2008 according to Billboard Magazine into one cohesive track.

He’s even made a video this year (which in itself is pretty incredible):

It’s clear that mashups are the wave of the future, with artists such as Girl Talk and remix masters The Twelves gaining popularity (and dancer on the floor) by the day. That being said, I am somewhat disappointed that this mashup isn’t more dance orientated. But I guess that’s what happens when the biggest music this year tended to be more introspective and slower-paced than last year. Let’s hope that 2009 gets people moving again!

What were your favorite songs from 2008?
