Unsolicited advice to 19 yr old Zachary Moir who assaulted his mom with a taco after she unplugged his xbox

Good evening. I’m Josh. Some people call me Hey Josh, I’m like the dear abby for teens.
The advice I sling tends to come from teens who email in and actually ask for it. When I heard your story, I couldn’t sit back. If by chance you have an iPhone in prison with you, I hope you get a chance to read this.
Are you kidding me!?!?! You hit your mom with a taco? I’m sorry, was a liquorish whip/ the salad shooter/a Belgium waffle not available? You need to understand that hitting your mom (or any woman) is wrong and by wrong I mean pansy-ish in the first place. But a taco? Have you never watched professional wrestling? I mean, was this a hard taco shell or a soft wrap? It better not have been a double-decker. Those things are heavy and too tasty to abuse others with…
Here’s my advice that you didn’t ask for:
1) Don’t hit women.
2) Don’t hit women with tacos.
3) Don’t waste food.
4) I understand you had a strong run on Lego Star Wars or whatever you were playing… but seriously, you can pause your Xbox bro.
5) You are going to be made fun of a lot, brace yourself. You are now the butt of every talk-show joke for the next few days…
6) Try to make them laugh with you. Maybe pitch Taco Bell a new marketing campaign “Taco Bell: Throw outside the (X) Box” They will probably pass.
7) By the way, does your jail cell have Xbox? No? Hmm…

Oh. My. Gosh. That’s pretty funny…in a not so good way.
Wow. Actually, with some of the things we see on MTV and such- I’m not all that surprised. But still. Good advice , Josh (and team); bad judgment, Zack.
Wow, I can’t believe what I just read. A couple things man, #1, You deserve to be in jail, maybe after a couple days, or weeks, in jail, you’ll understand how much you should appreciate your mom. #2, 19 years old, no school, no job? Playing Xbox so much that it made you assault your mom, try explaining that in jail, I hope you learn a lesson, besides that tacos are apparently good for throwing? not.
Lastly, I would like to say, that I’ll be praying for you kid. I’m not sure why anyone would throw a taco at anyone, especially their mother, and especially over and Xbox, but I hope whatever your going through gets solved. Your mom is smart, she should press charges, you need an intervention.

I wonder how many other times stuff like this has happened, but never been reported. Maybe parents being hit with a Big Mac after taking away the cell phone. I would like to add one more piece of unsolicited advice, apologize.

This is kind of funny, yet kind of sad. How do you get to be 19 with no job, no girlfriend, and play Xbox enough to do THAT? Assault with a TACO? What the hell? I read this story already on http://www.thehelper.net news and I posted there as well. The mother, I believe, was wrong to do what she did. Why in God’s name would you do that to your OWN CHILD? And the boy, was no better. Why would you assault your own padre? I would understand if she had assaulted him and it was all in the name of self defense, but this is unplugging an Xbox! Holy crap! He might deserve a little jail, but not how much he received, and maybe give the mom a little too. That’s just my say.

Sadly, I have a friend like this, except of course, he’s a freshman, not eighteen. However, he calls his mom stuff all the time, and she just ignores it. I’ll just have to make sure his mom doesn’t make tacos.

wow. sad to say but my brother disrespects my mom in similar ways all the time and hes 20! because of this, my 15 yr old brother has hit my mom before. i cant even understand why anyone wud hit deyre own mom!! its embarrassing and pisses me off. ppl like this deserve to be in jail…my brother has been locked up and i love him but he deserved more.

I find it sad that a kid would hit its parent.The only reason u are in this world, is because of ur mom. Am sure the xbox came form her as a gift as well as the taco. Where is the respect she deserves after raising u and doing the best she can to sustain u under under her roof??? Shame on you!

If kids are gaining power by being violent, the first thing that you have to do is take away the power by not tolerating the violence. Now, there are different levels of violence in people’s houses. And there’s different power that kids get from it. I can’t answer every level of violence in one article, but it should be understood that if it gains power in a family, that family is in a lot of trouble and may need outside help. Violence is a seductive shortcut to power. And once it works, it’s hard to get kids to accept alternative ways of getting power. Many times, parents need a comprehensive behavioral program to manage this problem.
