Don't misunderstand your parents here. They love you and only want what's best for you. However, no parent is perfect. Neither is any child. Any decisions you make may either be right or they may be wrong. The same goes for your parents. They base their feelings on past experiences. Both those they have gone through, and those they have watched you go through. This guy already broke up with you once. They just want to protect you from that happening again. This guy lost your parents' trust and probably their respect. He will have to work hard to show them that he really cares about you and will have to be very dedicated to earn that back. Both you and he should know this and work together to show your parents that. If you can pull this off, then I'm sure he's a good guy for you.
