Sometimes you have to make sacrifices in order to move ahead. It's like one of my favorite quotes: "Some times, a leap forward takes a few steps back." It means sometimes you have to sacrifice something, in this case maybe half a year to a year in order to take the leap forward, getting a career in what you love doing and keeping that career for a long time or until you retire.
